Donald Trump may have been temporarily thwarted by public outcry to halt the separation of immigrant children from their parents at the U.S. border, however, the battle is far from over.
This Thursday, Representative Adam Schiff published a report that claimed Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen had privately been telling legislators that the separation policy will return as soon as the media attention dies down.
Secretary Nielsen privately told lawmakers the Administration may go back to separating children from their parents. Congress must ensure that NEVER happens. And if you’re thinking to yourself, “there is no way they are that stupid,” you’d be wrong.
President Trump himself added legitimacy to the shocking report, which focused on the human rights violations associated with his harsh anti-immigration stance, by attempting to justify his actions.
“We’re gathered today to hear from the American victims of illegal immigration. You know, you hear the other side. You never hear this side. You don’t know what’s going on. These are the American citizens permanently separated from their loved ones… very unfair,” Trump declared.
Trump then proceeded to march his “angel families” across the stage which featured families whose loved ones were killed by immigrants, choosing to ignore the fact that a March 2017 study by the Koch brothers-financed, libertarian-influenced Cato Institute discovered that:
“All immigrants are less likely to be incarcerated than natives relative to their shares of the population” and that “even illegal immigrants are less likely to be incarcerated than native-born Americans.”
The exploitive press conference paid homage to a practice that Hitler once enacted during his rise, the famous dictator would parade the victims of crimes committed by Jews in front of massive crowds to infer that all Jews were criminals.
Trump also declared the formation of an immigration crime office that would be tasked with hunting down convicted immigrants and bringing them to justice.
